How to convert a PDF file to Word?

I need to update my Resume. Wifey did it in PDF. It will not allow me to edit it. She is too busy w/ Tax Season at work.

I have tried copy/paste to word but it doesn't work out.

Any Computer Helper Bees out there?

If you have adobe acrobat you can open the PDF and Save As, then select Microsoft Word. It never seems to be a perfect conversion, but it saves retyping the doc completely.


Reader has some conversion capability, but I have not tried it.

You can also upload the PDF to google docs and have it convert for free.

But it would be easier to just get the source file from the wife, since she didn't type it in Adobe PDF.

Find the source file. If you cannot retrieve it, use Adobe to "OCR" which is some sort of text recognition, but you will lose some formatting. You may end up just re-writing the thing.

And its illegal to modify your hosts file to point the adobe.com url to a LAN ip to circumvent copyright validation checks. So don't do it.

I use Nuance's buggy PDF Converter Pro because it has a lot of flexibility and power for the price but their plain PDF Converter (which doesn't make PDFs) will do what you want and it's free after rebate. Warning support is EXPENSIVE. It's not perfect but it works.

There are some free tools but I haven't used them.
