    Computer help

I bought one of those tigerdirect kits - well I have bought several, but this is the first I have ever had a problem with.

It was one of the higher end builds
    Asus P8277-V boards
    i5-3570k
    kingston hyperX red
    Coolermaster hyper212 plus

anyway, got it all together last month and wouldn't work....MemOk light on board just stayed on. Tried everything, ended up RMA

Got new board to today - installed it and doesn't work

No beeps, video or anything - power light on board and everything else seems fine

Could I have gotten another bad board? How do I know if CPU is bad?
Anyplace near 60 and Garfield I can take it to?
If it is just another bad board I am tempted to just throw away the money and get a different board

    Hi
I have been building pc's for about 15 years and I have never seen a Bad CPU, so I would rule that out. The core i5-3570k is an ivy bridge processor and most likely your motherboard requires a firmware update to recognize the new CPU. you would need an older Sandy bridge CPU to use long enough to do the firmware update. Hope this helps

I thought that board supported IVy bridge already.

did you only RMA the board?

              sounds like a power supply

just because some 5v leds are on, on the mobo doesn't mean all the voltages from the ps are good.

I just read all the reviews on newegg for that board and it seems the ram slots are bad in several of the reviews.
Also Montu is correct the board is suppose to support Ivy bridge out of the box.
Do you have a known good "Name Brand " Power supply ?

A picture of the inside of the case would actually be a big help in this case

I just left the office, but I think my PS is cooler master. I bought a nicer that was quieter
