    Cheap small security cameras

I want to put three cameras in, outside of side door, front door, and back door. I would like them to be small and cheap.

As usual when I post on T&I, I know nothing. Is wireless a possibility? I looked at this and think I understand how it works:

I do have a desktop running 24/7 with good wireless connectivity.

I don't know anything about that particular camera setup. If you are "weak" on technology you might want to look for a complete package. Simpler to setup and access.

    An overview:
A stand alone DVR, with 4 cameras (wired or wireless) can be had for less than $200 on various websites (newegg, meritline, ebay, etc) or even at costco for not too much more. Though, most of the cameras I've seen are as small as what you posted. The DVR can be connected to your home network and accessed from your desktop or laptop or whatever and if you have the right router, from outside your home via smartphone, tablet, etc.

My belief, not actual experience: If you attempt to use your desktop 'puter as DVR (which is what it sounds like you asked about), you need a device (usually USB connected) and associated software to collect the video signals from 3 different cameras and allow you to view on the puter. I'm not too fond of "all in one solutions" because when one part dies then nothing else is usable. So, that is why I recommend standalone DVR.

One other note: I doubt that the camera you linked to is outdoor friendly.
CalGuns Network (CGN) is different from CalGuns Foundation (CGF). Both need our support. I have gold name because I support CGN; plus, I send $10 every two weeks to CGF automatically via online BillPay as described here.

Support CGF by shopping at Amazon!

Something like that camera will work if all you want to do is watch the screen. Theres no software or anything to drive or record. It just outputs straight to a TV.

You might look at something like what you find here:

Secure and monitor your home with the latest surveillance security systems. They feature versatile, compatible components for easy installation.

I have one of the Zmodo systems and the picture quality is quite poor. I'm assuming the more expensive systems have better quality image output.

I love the dlink 932l. They are about 90 bucks a piece or so and they connect to a wireless router. I have one at my house and cabin and they work on the mydlink website. It was extremely simple and of course would love to save some bucks but tired of these endless projects that never work they way they should and eat up about 40 hours of my time with tinkering.
