    Logitech Cordless Desktop MX5500 Revolution

I've been using a G15 V1 / MX Revolution for ... a long time now. Long enough that the silver paint on the base of the G15 is worn all the way through to bare white plastic, and the rubber on the sides of the MX Rev has been worn completely through to bare shiny black plastic. A long ****ing time.

Anyway, over the last little while some of the parts of the keyboard (for instance, the keys) and the mouse (for instance, the buttons) have started doing things that they're not supposed to do, and not doing things that they are supposed to do.

I was down to a few options for replacement, since the company was buying. Option 1 was Razer Anansi Expert + Naga Expert Elite, option 2 was Logitech G510 and G700, and option 3 was the MX5500 package.

I picked the MX5500 package - the cheapest, incidentally - because of the mouse. I love the MX Revolution. It is - hands down - the greatest mouse ever created. There has never, nor will there ever be, a finer mouse created.

Unfortunately, the keyboard part of the package ... let's just say, it is just as much utter **** as the mouse is glorious. It's quite possibly the worst keyboard I've ever used, and I've used a lot of keyboards in the past 30 years. The keys are mushy and feel like I'm sticking my fingers into a can of refried beans. The LCD thingy is crap and doesn't feature anything useful like the G15 did. The function keys can't me mapped to macros. It's utterly awful and worthless.

But hey, at least I've got a brand new and fully functional copy of the finest mouse ever made. Of course I'll probably have to buy a new keyboard - on my own dime - after the holidays.
