    wifi enabled sd cards

Anyone have experience with these type of sd cards that are intended to enable cameras to transmit photos to a pc or smartphone via wifi network?

I was thinking about one as a gift for my wife.

Yep, they work. Eye-Fi brand if I recall. They need a router, they do not work ad-hoc, like to a PC.

      Eye-Fi works over ad-hoc. http://support.eye.fi/cards/networks...d-hoc-network/

Friend of mine does this from a 5D Mark III to a tablet.

The pro version works in adhoc mode.....more expensive.

Transcend brand just came out with a wireless SD card recently....more standard features for a lower price.

But obviously check the compatibility list to make sure the card works with your camera.

I was a beta tester for the Eye-Fi cards. My biggest gripe was that there was no ad-hoc support.

I had a buddy ask me for a good cheap digital camera, about $100, that takes SD cards. I gave him a few ideas. I saw him months later and he was showing me sexy photos of ladies horsing around in underwear or topless party type pics. I asked why was I not invited to the party. His reply? "Oh remember when I asked you for camera information? I bought five cameras and put eye-fi cards in them and have them to some college girls I know. Every time they pas a Starbucks I get their latest pics sent to me!"

You don't have to be first, you just have to take it to the next level.

Until you get sued for selling/licensing images without getting a model release.

I know of a guy who put photos of girls on his subscriber based foot-fetish site and my friends and I found out and told all the girls we know whose images he posted. He didn't get releases from any of them. Girls got paid out and their images taken down.
