Did a search and didnt find a halo 4 thread. Of course tapatalk search functions fails, but anywyay i just wanna ramble about this game since i havent enjoyed halo simce halo 3.
SPOILERS
Campaign: This was probably my favorite Halo campaign. Very similar to the others. The new enemies added a new level to combat which i liked. New weapons are nothing spectacular, same basic functionality. The ending was lame as usual. You do the standard halo vehicle escape scene only this time its in a jet. It was very reminiscent of star fox. Then u face the didact in a lame "press the button that shows up on screen" sequence which was anti-climatic. If you beat it on legendary you see some of masterchiefs face eluding that he is in fact human.
The overall story was interesting until they decided to throw in the whole cortana bit. It started to feel very contrived and uninteresting. And as peter griffon said about the godfather "it insisted on itself". They want you to care about cortana and for me it didnt happen. All in all i had fun though, and the backstory of the forerunners role in the universe was interesting.
Multiplayer: a few notable changes here. I think 343 took a few pages from the CoD playbook and it worked. Custom loadouts, sprint, ordanance, and character abilities make it a more enjoyable multiplayer for me. It added just a little to the mechanics while keeping the same basic halo feel. New weapons are nice but unremarkable. The promethean qeapons were weak...they have the tech to make guns that rebuild themselves magically but u still have to load the shotgun one round at a time....
Ramblings: All in all id say 343 is taking the game in a good direction mechanically. The idea of starting with an AR and finding power weapons on the maps is outdated and needed to be removed.
Story wise i think they are going too far with the dramatics. Some people like that, but for me it felt forced. I didnt like the new human side of cortana (though they did back it up in the cuscenes). It was hard to believe that cortanas glitchy AI was enough to disable this near omnipotent being so u could stick a nade to him. Lame! This guy was able ti manioilate his way out of a prison and basically enslave the storm covenant with ease! I would have liked a better battle there.
Overall, thumbs up for gameplay, thumbs up for the big picture of the story, thumbs down for using cliche movie plot devices to get you emotionally invested, thumbs down for the lackluster new guns.
