Anyone heard of this Chrome Laptop?

I just saw a commercial for a chrome laptop. Looks like they may have largely done away with a hard drive in order to rely more upon their cloud?

Anyone seen this thing in real life?

I saw the commercial last night and looked it up.
No HDD, its the SDD instead with 100GB of free online storage.
I just started looking for a mobile type gizmo to use out and about with a hotspot. Price is right at $249.

Don't know much about the Cloud yet.
Though it looks like Google Docs may be less cumbersome for me to use over Office products. I'm very small biz just sell T-shirts, doc needs are minimal so far.

    Article here.

I found it to be like a tablet with a keyboard. REQUIRED Internet access to function, and very limited on application options.

For me, I purchased an inexpensive laptop instead.

The cloud is ok, as long as you can actually connect decently to it. I run into problems with it periodically, especially with Docs, when my connection speeds dip a little.

Docs is cool, but it has some problems. I wouldn't switch to it completely over Office unless I absolutely had to.

I have a netbook for this particular application, but this machine just looked cool... But if you HAVE to be online all the time to do anything, I'll give it a miss. 100gb?

        But thanks for the info.

Yeah, I did the same. HP netbook. I have a laptop for the important stuff, like imaging software. This machine seems pretty worthless for my uses.

Odd. Most the core functions of chrome os are available offline. I run it dual booted with win 7 on my netbook and it works decently, but office still blows away docs IMO
