Microsoft Surface - who's buying one?

Thinking of getting one myself, I had an iPad but gave it to my father because it won't play Flash content.

Not me! At least not the 1st gen, it seems early adopters get burned more often than not these days.

Not impressed by the price, don't like the OS, and I wouldn't want to be the first on the bandwagon of something only to find out that support gets abandoned in a year, major flaws discovered, or a more popular model comes out with incompatible accessories and I can no longer find a case or something.

Nope, but really thinking about ditching my laptop and for a windows 8 tablet. I really would prefer to have a full OS and my documents with me, that's why I never got an ipad, otherwise my phone is fine.

I am really leaning towards a WP8 phone though. I have an iphone 4 now, have held off on new iphone to see what windows does.

I've never bought a MS product other than the Mac version of some software.

I bought and still own a Zune HD. Yea, I know. Some say this tablet will turn into the Zune.

Regardless, I'm waiting to see the pricing on the Pro version that runs full Windows 8. No price on it yet.

Last I heard people were expecting a $999 price tag, seems like too much of a jump for the somewhat minuscule differences between the two.

I am sure that it will last as long as any Microsoft 1st gen hardware... ...

With all the under-tested outsourced India coders in use now-a-days, I'd hold off.

At least Google knows when to call something Beta.

I got the Google Nexus 7, its great and was only $200. But then again it's made by ASUS who has been in the hardware side of business for quite sometime.

I'm curious as to if Microsoft is building all the hardware themselves or if they are outsourcing for this. Microsoft isn't know for their Hardware feats.

It'll be as successful as the Zune was.

Surface has some compelling features but the price point is a barrier. It better get good reviews and word of mouth for it to be successful.

I thought this demo was pretty cool - called NUIverse. They may be running on a monster machine.
