Anybody experienced this?
Droid 3 used to connect to my laptop just fine, you know, for transferring photos, music, ring tones, etc.
Tried yesterday and all of a sudden I'm getting an error message on the laptop saying it "doesn't recognize the USB device".
OK. So I uninstalled the Motorola driver on the laptop, went to Motorola, got their driver package, downloaded and installed it. Still no love.
So I try a different USB cord. Nope.
Apparently (after researching Motorola's online help, which is quite good) you also must have the phone's "USB Debugging" feature disabled. Well it turns out I did not, because I occasionally use an app called "PDANet" for tethering, and PDANet requires that you have "USB Debugging" enabled. So I disabled that feature, restarted the phone, and yep, still no go.
Got on the phone with Motorola Level I support and they couldn't figure it out either.
So now I need to call their Level II support with a case number.
I have to give Motorola props for their customer support, both via phone and online. It's better than most.
Anybody experience something like this?
Phone works fine otherwise.
One thing I haven't tried yet is connecting the phone to a DIFFERENT laptop/computer because I assume it's a problem with the phone. Hmmmm.
