Yes, Obsidian did make some great games while they were still Black Isle Studios.

Then they went on to make garbage like knights of the old republic 2 and dungeon siege 3(have you seen the multiplayer in that game? it's idiotic). Fallout New Vegas was a bug riddled mess at launch(to be fair I didn't give it a chance 6 months later after the distaste I had for it based on it's launch, they might have fixed it at some point), and their other games were NWN2(plus expansions), and alpha protocol. The southpark game isn't out yet so who knows. But their recent history after becoming Obsidian hasn't exactly been stellar.
