You've brought up another of my hobbies.. I'm a long-time RC'er - 35+ years and am very involved in the helicopter side of things. I also do airplanes, just not too much anymore.

How much would a pretty good helicopter cost? I'm guessing they're a few hundred and would HATE to crash the thing or fly it out of range and it crashes in someone's backyard 4 blocks away. My cousin n' I bought some rocket at Micheal's and those things are pretty awesome Although not r/c, of course.

hundreds......try thousands, the cheap ones suck and will crash. I crashed my first heli a few times and spent around $1000 just fixing it.

first and foremost if you want to fly ANYTHING buy this first the remote:

perfect starter remote and you can use this with your future heli/plane if you decide to get one, it is a GREAT price and comes with a receiver cant go wrong for a 9 channel remote.

phoenix flight is the best simulator and if you get this one you can even update it with no problems. Or you can spend $200 and buy a legit version.

I love it! Been trying to find time to learn heli's for years. Frustration is the name of my game, I have real flight something or other, and while I try it, I seem to lose reference if I do anything other than hover and quit, then I have to learn to hover all over again. It has been frustrating, with out a sim it seems to be out of my budget.

I hate expensive Hobbies, but I hate cheap ones more....

Here is a medium size quad 24" from one blade across with a gopro mounted on it, still having trouble with the shaking but im working on it now.

About a year ago my brother told me he traded some guns for some RC cars, I considered getting him commited. Then I visited him and he let me beat up some of his RC cars. I bought a Traxxas Slash 4x4 about a week and a half ago, I keep beating the holy crap out of it and it keeps going. (I've had to replace a few cheap parts) Will be buying a RTF Hi Tec Sky Scout (the new iteration of Easy Star RTF) in the next month.

nice, what kind of camera and how did you mount it? Im building a 6 prop monster and just finished a quad thats about 26" prop to prop (across) in the middle of mounting a hero1 on it, I will post some vids when its done....

Im uploading 2 videos I just shot with a MQX quad with a tiny 720p camera, im trying some different mountings cause im getting shake in the video.

This was a Replay XD.

To reduce shaking, you have to balance all of the blades front/back and side/side. It's not easy with multiple small blades but makes a big difference.

Also you can mount the camera using the very rubbery double-sided tape Heli's use for the Gyro.

I had crashed it couple weeks ago and just finished rebuilding it last night. Now I need to buy a new go pro and make more videos. I have also ordered a POV camera so I can actually move around and not just hover.
