are SIM Unlock codes one time use?

Can I reuse a sim unlock code on two devices? Both are same make and model.

They are usually based on the IMEI/ESN of the phone.


Where did I get this from? I used to sell phones and was able to unlock 1/2 of them.

Why would you post this if you hadn't tried it?

I'm in a company that uses unlocked phones as test equipment. We buy phones from a company that sells us new unlocked phones. We tried the eBay / 'web know it all' guys and sometimes their procedures worked, sometimes they didn't.

Zfields nailed it. I have unlocked a few and always need separate ones for each phone.

Yep each GSM Phone requires its own unique code. I know what on some android models there are ways to unlock your phone with out the code (I was able to do this on my older Samsung Captivate) but I believe they have figured out how to block this.

If you have an android check out the XDA developers forum, if anything can be done on the Android its most likely by them.

If you really want the unlock code, most carriers will give it to you if tell them you are travelling overseas. Tell them you want to be able to use prepaid SIM cards while travelling. They can either say yes or no. I think they base it on how long you have been on your contract. That what I prior to Android with ATT.
