    Old tube TV disposal

I have a old (12 years old) Sony Tube TV sitting around. The picture is a little off because I banged it a little when moving many years ago, but it still works otherwise.

Its been sitting in my living area for many years, unused and I've been thinking of getting rid of it (I have 2 other TVs for the wife, and I only watch Netflix on my PC anyway).

My community has a dumpster that is marked for recycling stuff, can I dump this old TV in there? I didn't want to ask the HOA because if someone else dumps a old TV in there and it is not allowed, they might think it is me doing it.

    Thanks.

Electronics recycling isn't necessarily the same as paper/plastic/whatever else.

Check the newspaper, craigslist or other local sites for electronic recycling. In the south and east bay it seems like there's some free electronics recycling pickup somewhere every month or two(because the recyclers make money from it of course).

Check the local Transfer station, or dump, most of them take old tube TVs and other electronics for free these days.

When you buy a new TV, you will pay a Recycle Fee, any transfer station will take it for free, or electronic recycle days that your City should have from time to time, for free.

Recycle TAX(, like CRV is taxed). Not fee.

Take it to a scrap yard and get paid like $.05-.10/lb for them to take it off your hands..... Recycling centers will pay you to take it.

Looks like a job for a 1lb tannerite. Should do the trick. Anything left over just sweep up

A cardboard sign that says "free" is prolly the quickest way to get rid of it.

Hazardous waste, your not suppose to put it in the recycle dumpster.
Maybe take it to the same place you take your AA and AAA.... batteries.

Man, this pisses me off so badly. I did the "responsible" thing and hauled one to the dump and they charged me $20.

If it works like you said see if a thrift shop will take it. Seems like people forget that thrift shops are around and will take your junk and basically recycle it.

Take it to a best buy, they recycle it for free. Up to 32 in I believe

Do a search for an e-waste facility in your area. We have a place that is open for 4 hours every Saturday, will receive anything for free
