For $100 it would make for a cool development board. You could easily spend that on a PCB alone. I believe Android is based on Java which I know nothing about. The world should run on Python.

Its base off Linux, programs could be Java, dunno.

LOL, it'd be hard to achieve the same level of epic fail that the phantom console was.

As far as the games on this thing, honestly the specs aren't very good(well, from a price standpoint they're ok) compared to the other current(and now old) consoles with regards to 3d graphics fidelity. I'm also not interested in upscaling games meant for a 5" screen to my 50" screen(things like AA and AF become a problem on a larger display).

It does however seem like an excellent replacement for a HTPC used primarily for media playback or for developers who want a piece of hardware that isn't tied to a 5" screen.

That being said, I have zero interest in paying for hardware up front without it actually being ready for production yet, regardless of how many millions more than the original funding goal they managed to get.(there's still a chance they could pull an Infinium Phantom, all those guys ever managed to make was a keyboard)

there are games in 1080p for android, not sure what is released. moves high end phones are at least over 720p.

As I said, the games being in 1080p isn't just it. There is more to 3d game fidelity than resolution. Anti aliasing, anisotropic filtering, even texture resolution matter. Those are all independent of the display resolution and when you scale the display size up, they become more important. The Tegra 3 doesn't have the capability to handle that. 1080p is actually a pretty low resolution for a screen size above 27".

As far as how to explain texture resolution... the best way I can think of is to look at a Minecraft screenshot.

The textures look like pixelated crap(intentionally in the case of minecraft) because their resolution is so low. Even if you run that game at 1080p or higher, the textures will still look like crap.

Then on top of that you have polygon counts, lighting, shaders, and lots of other things that allow games not on a cellphone or tablet to look the way they do, that has nothing to do with the display resolution. Of course even if the 3d acceleration supports those features, it's all for nothing if the framerate constantly drops making it look like you're watching a slideshow.

Here's another one, you need to build it.
