Google lift it's anti gun policy ?

For the heck of it, I used Google to shop for ammo and a
Colt 45 Gov pistol. To my surprise, both came with many
price options and places to buy.

I thought Google didn't want anything to do with firearms.

were you using google's organic search or their shopping section? I hardly ever use the shopping for anything unless I can't find it elsewhere or want to price check something online.

Google Organic search didn't ban firearm related searches......they just took it out of the shopping section(And I don't even think that is 100%).

Hmm. I again typed in colt 45 gover pistol in Google and it showed
a number of sites and some you tubes. Please enlighten. I don't get
        the shopping only part.

Let me explain how I did this. I use FF and
have a few different search engs as does everyone. I picked Google
this time and typed in the colt thing and did a search. A num of sites
came and over in the far left corner is an option for shopping. I used it,
on both organic and shopping and still get info on the colt and where to
        buy it with prices

Find the best prices and places to buy. Google Shopping organizes information from thousands of online and local stores for you.

Google search......Go to google type something into the search "seo" for example.

you will see results in the middle(organic - occur naturally through website optimization) and results on the right(pay per click - pay google to be at the top of the list). You will also notice some links on the left:

Web < default google search filter (searches everything) - firearm related search NOT removed
Images < search images only (obviously)
            Maps
            Videos
            News
Shopping < searches brick and mortar store websites as well as online only websites for product/model codes, pricing etc.)
            etc.

These are link that will help you better filter your results. If you try and click the shopping link it will give you locations, websites and various pricing differences on products. This is the section where firearms related content was removed.

I wonder if using the private browsing option in FF has anything to do with it.

Depending on location, some firearms related searches may still be showing up in Google Shopping. It's weird though, that searching for "holsters" in Google Shopping shows ZERO results for me, even though holsters are one of the few items that are allowed under Google's Adwords policies. If I do an organic search for holsters on Google, it shows LOTS of ads, but a blanket filter must be in place in Google Shopping. It's like they don't yet have all their policies in place so they are putting some blanket filters in to block most items while they try to figure out just what to do. I can still find some firearms though, but the ban on firearms and parts in Google Shopping is definitely still in place.

Yea it is strange, but if Google doesn't care to support us or at
least respect our choices of hobbie, sport, what have you, then
I sure don't want to support it in any way, shape or form.

So from now on, Bing or one of the engs avail who don't find us
                              so repulsive.
