Having had two pieces of hardware in our front room that are network capable but not wireless (unless you purchase adapters) I thought about an easier and at least for me cheaper solution to get them online.
Having an extra Airport Extreme in the closet provided an easy solution.
Since I already had all of my other wireless devices using my network through another base station I decided to go ahead and hardwire the components to the back of the extra base station via shorty Ethernet cables, have the base station join my existing network and five minutes later everything from my Blu Ray player to my Denon recveiver were up and downloading firmware updates and opening up a whole plethoria of options once on line.
Basically any router that can join another network and has the capability to accept wired connection will work. My situation was just made easier because of the design of Apple's hardware.
