should i just get a new xbox 360

i have a older xbox arcade and its been working great for the past 4 years, now with battlefield 3 DLC and all the new games coming out soon i decided i need more memory on my 360 but now all the stores only sell the new style hard drives and the online places are filled with cheap non Microsoft hard drives.

should i just get a new slim 360 and transfer all the saves and stuff onto it then sell my old 360? of if you know a place that still sells old style 250GB HDD's made by Microsoft pleas give me a link.

Back up 250gb hdds? Save the games you don't use on the extra.

Did you bother to look on amazon, gamestop, google?

I think you can live with spending a whopping $45 on a used one.

I don't know about the reliability of these drives, but china drives could be an option too:
        New 120gb NON-OEM, 100% compatible Buy it Now: $50ish,
        New 250GB NON-OEM, 100% compatible Buy it Now: $61.99.

I believe these are non-360 (not Seagate or whatever they may have switched them to after that?) drives with 360 firmware on them...

I got my refurbished 60GB from Gamestop and it was louder than I expected, and since this was my 1st HDD purchase as a separate entity (my son got his with a HDD already, but I also had an "Arcade" as my 1st purchase.) It was fully functional, yet not really as quiet as I was expecting. I would worry about a used drive, (a drive you could not plug in at the store,) but your best bet would be a real new M$ drive, and I would guess that it would last longer... at hindrance of only price.

I am not a major gamer, so I do not know anyone who's used drive failed, but I am sure it would be more prominent with a used drive than a new one.

One word, EBay. Don't buy a chape Chinese knock off because they won't work without special formatting. But a used OEM one. Your talking maybe 50 bucks

I found a shop south of downtown LA on craigslist

The repair XBox PS3, I phones and they do all of the repairs for the local Game Stop
              Fusion Electronics

I would look for a small local shop unless you are comfortable in pulling the devices apart to remove and install a new drive
