When will CHAT GPT & GROK kill wikipedia?

I know some still love 8 tracks and Cassette tapes....

It looks like Wikipedia is going the way for the VHS/ CD/ DVD.... traffic and revenue are way down and I am sure that all the AI has copied every single thing already on wikipedia....

I do enjoy reading on wikipedia... it use to be one of the 1st search results almost always..... now its - Here have AI summarize how the 38 Shot Colt and 38 Long colt evolved into the 38 special...

Or here is why John Browning made the .38ACP and why it evolved into the 38 Super

or Why Intel did not have Math processors on the 286 chipset and when the coprocessor was added and all the 3rd party manufactures no longer had a customer base....

I'm a dinosaur from the late 1900's and I still trust Wikipedia more than I do any Co Pilot....

    so When will Wikipedia close?
Rule 1- ALL GUNS ARE ALWAYS LOADED

Rule 2 -NEVER LET THE MUZZLE COVER ANYTHING YOU ARE NOT PREPARED TO DESTROY (including your hands and legs)

Rule 3 -KEEP YOUR FINGER OFF THE TRIGGER UNTIL YOUR SIGHTS ARE ON THE TARGET

Rule 4 -BE SURE OF YOUR TARGET AND WHAT IS BEYOND IT

I won't miss it, Wikipedia started out on the right foot but as time went on, it turned into a left propaganda machine. Haven't used it in a long time.

They’ve already consumed the data so people just have to use it. It can arguably replace the legacy google searches as well.

Have you tried Grokipedia? Just another tool in the tool box.
Grokipedia is an open source, comprehensive collection of all knowledge.

I'm sure CHAT GPT & GROK get some of their search results from Wikipedia

They certainly are NOT absolutely accurate either.

Yes, it is a hit and miss with all of the AIs. sometimes they are right on the nose and sometimes way off.

In my line of work we use all of them and you learn which ones do better at which types of engagements. Claude does better at coding, ChatGPT does better at troubleshooting technical issues, Gemini does better at things like product comparisons or vacation itineraries, Grok isn't really useful but likes to criticise you... maybe its ok for fact checking news articles and stuff, Copilot just kinda sucks at most things. They all have their strengths and weaknesses. We're lucky that we have enterprise licensing for all of them.

The adoption of paid AI use is growing exponentially but if the growth continues at the same rate (compute subsidies, not sustainable) it will still be around 3-4 years before a majority of households are paying for AI.

Soon. I use SuperGrok every day, at home and in my Tesla. It is a search engine on steroids, wheres Wiki can be a left-leaning opinion bulletin board whose spurious encyclopedia entries are to be mistrusted at best. The age of AI as a force multiplier is upon us. So goes the Net.
