    Software to download youtube?

Anyone know of something that works? I need to load some videos on a flash drive for a buddy up North that has zero online presence.

From what I gather, RealPlayer is a 'popular' option.

Just bear in mind that, occasionally, YouTube does change things up where you can't download from their site until the software companies sort it out and provide a necessary update.

Your Windows snipping tools already can record YouTube.
You can record any video and audio piped to your desktop.

If you are downloading a handful of things its fine. Truthfully most of these are just front ends for a command line program anyway

If you want to do it from the command line directly use this

I tried that as well as iObit Screen Recorder but the audio always matches the IRL audio. I'd like to 'screen record' stuff like "Free with ads" that Clipgrab, etc, wont grab off Youtube, but with full "factory" soundtrack, but mutted on my system IRL.

My favorite tool of choice for this is yt-dlp. It's a fork of youtube-dl after youtube-dl's maintainer ran out of time to maintain it. Someone else took up the cause and created yt-dlp, which continues to get updates.
