got Yahoo browser hijack virus, again. :(

IIRC its fairly complex to get rid of it, requires (for me) a good 30-60min of tinkering and looking at directions that no long match current apps.

My question is "WTF can't Google write an app to kill this virus since most people want Google as default, not dying Yahoo, and doing so would re-direct user's eyeballs back to Google's ad revenue?"

Seems like a no brainer and if I was running Google it would be the first thing I'd be screaming for. Its like if I was running a hotel and there was "Y" in the road and I see an illegal sign directing people to the other fork to a competing hotel, I wouldn't just be like "Oh well, maybe my customers will figure it out and drive back 10 miles".

Edit: I 'fixed it' by RnR Firefox without any old FF data. So will need to redo bookmarks. But now I've got an extra step after I click Bookmarks to make them drop down.

save data files to a drive
    Reformat the computer

Once you have a clean instance, use two different browsers or profiles for business and casual.

    brave is a good browser

Used to be, and still on my other PC, that when I click on "bookmarks", the menu drops down.

NOW, after I 'fixed' FF and got rid of Yahoo hijack, when I click on Bookmarks I get picrel dropping down, THEN I can click on "Bookmarks Toolbar" which will drop the menu. Anyway to make it like old style without the extra step?

NEVER MIND, I figure it out.
I just need to put bookmarks into "menu", not "toolbar". I open a bookmark, then click "bookmarks" and it asks "edit this BM?" and then go to "location" and click "menu". bookie.png?
