'Splain bitcoin transactions to me like I'm 3.

I want to buy something. The seller wants bitcoin.

Yes, I know this is a favorite scam. I know this seller well. The amount of money doesn't bother me if I get scammed out of it, unlikely as it may be.

So down to the real question, how do I do this? I got no bitcoin, but I have US dollars. What are the steps I need to take? Keep in mind the thread title.

    thanks

edit: The seller recommended using something called MoonPay.

Kind of weird. Just give him cash so he can buy bitcoin with it?

Just be aware, all BTC transactions are public domain and easily searchable by anyone.

Imagine your childhood friend decided to make monopoly money have real value. The entire neighborhood joins in and all the kids buy monopoly money.

Then one day they find out it really doesn't have any value beyond what they thought it was.

If you have paypal or venmo, you can use those systems to buy bitcoin. Then also use it to transfer the bitcoin.

You will need his wallet address.

After you buy btc from paypal.
Go to send or transfer then enter his wallet address.
If its a large sum, then send a test transaction first $10 worth

It takes about 10-15 minutes to confirm its reached them..
Once they've confirmed, then send the remaining balance.

This is the easiest way to buy and transfer crypto
