    Google Bombs still work?

    Do Google Bombs still work?

I'm thinking a certain Senator who is starting to cause problems for us should be treated to a google bombing.

Any tech types interested in working with me to set this up?

Please no word suggestions in this forum. Any good ones should be sent by private message.

It's a way to manipulate google search engine results to display websites you want for a specific search term.

Say you search for a certain Senator by name, normally you would get his official website. If you "Google Bomb" the search results you could see the website promoting his recall, or a negative news story, etc.

Seriously? You seriously think I'm advocating violence?

Anyone else find it funny that Yugo didn't just search google for "google bomb" to figure it out?

For all those people who find it more convenient to bother you with their question rather than to Google it for themselves.

I understand the internet is hard for some people, but if you want to find out what something means without bothering to look...

I think the big G is on to that tactic. There are marketing companies that have tried to manipulate it, but they get washed. Only thing I have seen has been youtube hit counts that have been able to successfully manipulated, but even then they do sometimes catch them and Google has outed them. Trying to recall that happened recently, can't remember who.

Some changes were made by G several years ago. You'll need to have the search term, link text, and page content all the same to get ranking.

I'm thinking it could easily be done using the Senators name and pointing at any number of news stories that mention his name in conjunction with shoplifting charges in Hawaii, cruising for prostitutes in SF, etc.

I'd really like to see those news stories sitting right next to his .gov site whenever someone search his name.

                      Wanna give it a try?

Sure you could do that, but then you would be opening yourself up to charges of slander, defamation of character, etc.

how is it slander or defamation of character if it was true and is on official police records?

Well in that case you'd be wasting your time since it would already come up in a Google search.
