    Samsung Galaxy S2 GPS fix?

Have anyone been able to solve the GPS issues with their Samsung Galaxy S2?

I tried the common methods (unrooted) and nothing seems to work.

Considering rooting the phone to try and get it working correctly.

Huh?, I have a Galaxy 2 and I generally have no issues.

Sometimes up in the Oakland hills the GPS will lag and then jump to my point but thats usually just being in dead zones where GPS never worked.

Can you describe more about your problems? Who is your provider?

Strange how Samsung phones are always the ones that have GPS issues. The original Galaxy S had horrible GPS.

I have the Samsung Galaxy S2 Epic 4G on Sprint PCS.

From what I read on XDA, it's a hit and miss issue. Not everyone's GPS is bad, but there are a large amount that do.

I have t-mobile. Could it be that your using or maybe not using a combination of GPS and triangulation off cell towers? Could it be a settings issue as I believe I use both and run wifi which seems to help pinpoint my location better with some apps.

It's not always samsung phones. My old iphone 3gs constantly had my location a half mile north of where I actually was. That combined with it's horrible navigation made using it for directions pretty much impossible.

My galaxy s2 on the other hand has had a couple of flatout failures to get a GPS signal, which is annoying however restarting the phone resolved it. Even still, it's pretty rare that actually happens.

There were major GPS issues with the first generation Galaxy/Captivate phones. I have rooted and installed multiple custom ROMs that claim to have a fix but generally my Captivate does not see or lock onto a GPS signal. I can get "close" using cell tower triangulation but nothing really useful.

My kids and wife are running Galaxy S2 Skyrocket phones and GPS works great on all of them. Very handy for the wife who needs GPS for driving directions. Google Navigation is awesome...and free.
