    MACBOOK AIR

I am thinking of getting one of the new MacBook Air in 15" with the M4 chip, start March 2025.

Just wondering what others think about this Apple laptop. I currently have a MacBook Pro (Retina, 13-inch, Early 2015) and I believe the live of this one is ending. A new laptop will get me well into my golden years, or be my last laptop needed. I am now 68. I now do my taxes at local library for free, but used to do them through the laptop and would have needed to update the OPS for current Turbotax.

I only do internet, banking, and other odds and ends, so will be getting the 256gb model. A chrome book would be sufficient, but I don't really want to stray away from an Apple system. I have an Android phone though and will not be getting an iPhone, just because.

    Thanks

I went through the exact same situation as you (Probook to Air). I like it just note you’ll need to get a USB-C to attach anything running off USB or HDMI.
it is light and sleek and like the improved Retina display.

Yes, I have no need for the Pro model. Got this yesterday and now I am in the process of adding all the sites I visit manually. While at the same time writing all passwords etc. into a book. My wife has been saying for years that I need to do this, for some reason. LOL

      Loving this so far.

Air is good to go. No difference. Yes, keep a book of passwords and accounts handy.
You can always encode your written passwords. IT guy recommended this.
Like PW... written as "%ac%oo%%%25" which is "Macbook2025"...
so only you know the PW.

I bought an M1 Air for my wife. I decided on an M2 14" Pro because of the USB 3.0 ports. I need the ports for programming Ham and GMRS radios. If you can get away with USB-C only, the Air should be good. I was looking at the M4 models but my M2 runs just fine.
