why don't they make a case that is also a shade and thus laptop can be used while still in case for 17" laptop. Should have "basic shade" but also Max Shade option, with just some fabric on those circular springs that would pop out and you sorta stick your face inside. A great bonus feature would be fold out mouse pad. Should have option of pad off to side or below keyboard.

PS-that also means at least floor of case and bit to sides should be "hard" to allow vents to work, as well as accommodate power plug and at least 90deg USB plugs.

pretty much. I'm not doing ultra-light extreme hiking, but if I was and planned on using a laptop in remote locations I still might want a 'cubicle'. they make this but so far for only 15-16" laptops and its a very snug fit, and no full max shade option.

Also should have hard slideouts for mouse or even writing surface. Having an additional hard panel will do double duty and provide additional crash protection. I guess you could have one hard panel that could be slid 2/3 of the way out, either L or R, or towards user. Better yet include two panels, one of which would ride on top of closed screen when stored to provide double sided armor, but could be slid to provide second working surface. Seems 80% of computer work is Mouse Monkey these days, and touch pads are a major step down, so having ability to use real mouse is major IMO.

Should also include a pouch for flat form power brick (these seem about right power laptop and tablet going full blast bright for about 10hrs.
