Need technical help with WiFi connection issues

I use the Shotmarker electronic target system that operates on wifi at the address of 192.168.100.1. If I try to use it near my house the wifi will not connect my phone to this address. It will connect to my Starlink AP located at 192.168.1.1

I even uninstalled the Starlink AP but the Shotmarker will still not connect.

Any ideas on what I can do to fix this? (if you could explain it like you were talking to a technological idiot, it would be appreciated)

Is the device on its own SSID? You might need to change your phone settings and look for an option about connecting to strongest signal or something to that effect and turn it off. If the device broadcasts its own network the range is probably pretty limited so when you move nearer a different AP with a stronger signal it will hop over to that. Just spitballing without knowing how any of your stuff is configured.

Thanks, the Shotmarker has a transmitter at the target down range that WIFI's to the receiver on the bench that connects to the phone. Typically I have the phone and the receiver within a couple of feet of each other and my starlink wireless router is 50-200 feet away.

Any suggestion of how I can tell my Android phone not to connect to Starlink temporarily, while using the Shotmarker?

Can you change the Shotmarker to use DHCP for IP assignment? Or does the Starlink router have a "guest" wifi config that you can set to the 192.168.100.x address range?

There is an option in there that says something to the effect of connect to this network when in range. Try disabling it.

What I've done with WiFi portable devices is use the phone as a mobile 'hotspot' and connect the wifi device to it via the hotspot. That eliminates the router and the outdoor device needing to send a wifi signal into your house through walls/obstructions/etc. The phone has a stronger radio which will connect to the router and relay any data that goes to the web via the hotspot connection.
