what does this forum need (hardware wise)?

This recent move/upgrade got me thinking, what does a website like this need to function properly? I've always thought storage access time would be key. Old mechanical hard drives would kill performance. New NVMe drives should provide enough speed for the forum to run smoothly. Is this true? Or does CPU power impact performance more? Or maybe the size of RAM would help more?

Kes got a better CPU and expanded to 128 gig of RAM, I am starting the think it is a software or bandwidth issue.

I've been on at 130am to 2am over the past 2 nights. This site absolutely flies at this time. I took a screen shot and it looks like the number of users online is about the same as during the day.

I'm thinking maybe other traffic is slowing the site down during the day. Or maybe there are so many users online during the day that the site couldn't display more than what it could handle, which seems to be around 3000ish.

The most number ever was recorded back in April this year at 17654. That was nearly 6 times the number we see over the last few days.
