I don't have an Apple machine but Firefox quit supporting both my wife's Win XP and my Win7 a long time ago but we still have to use Firefox. Nothing else works so far. Admittedly the XP is a bit flakey and hangs a lot. I have a neighbor that uses an older Apple machine, I'll check with them and see if they know anything.

We are both on what term as "Extended Release" edition.

Sorry I cannot be a direct help.

    Respectfully

    Kyle

ETA: No help there, the neighbor has a more advanced operating system; sorry, best of luck.

You might want to consider running Linux PPC on it. I used to run Linux PPC (in my case, Ubuntu) on my PowerBook G3 back in the day (2007), and it ran really well. Same on my Power Mac G3 and G4 machines, the latter with dual CPU's.

If your machine has a 32-bit processor, then I would suggest Adelie Linux. If it's 64-bit, then I would suggest Debian. I'm writing this very post on a Debian 12 ("Bookworm") machine, and it "just works". The GNOME desktop is probably most familiar to MacOS users. For Microsoft Windows users, I typically recommend the KDE desktop.

Either way, you won't have to worry about available updates, be they Firefox or otherwise, for a while.

PPC Macs are a long dead architecture. Time to move to the x86 Macs. I'm sure you could pick up a used one for cheap.
