two issues: 1 on newish laptop and other on 10+yr old desktop.

two issues: 1)new laptop will "blue screen" and no way to restart until batt runs down. 2)old desktop now only audio to speakers on with VLC etc but not "live" youtube.

anyway to "goose" laptop? Keyboard doesn't seem to respond to Ctrl-Alt-Del, or any combo of ctrl etc and the Function buttons or "on/off" key. Brand is Acer Aspire. screen will be dark blue-black or now completely off but lighted keyboard is on ALL the time (normally just come on if key pressed, even when plugged in. I WISH it would stay on when plugged in). Only way I've found to get laptop booted up and running is let it run down and charge other stuff off its USBs to speed drain. THEN plug in laptop, wait a few seconds and press "on". Its done this about 3 times and maybe 1 time per 20 full starts from dead, but TBH I can't remember if it was "dead" or I was restarting or it just goes Blue Screen randomly and I find it like this. Batt is internal.

10+yr old desktop used to play ANY audio on external speaks via green audio plug, but now only plays stuff on VLC or Windows Media Player thats been downloaded. Wont play any "live" stuff off Youtube or Bitchute.

    Any clues?

for the laptop that blue screens, HOLD the power button until it shuts off. You need to make sure you are running known good driver versions and also perhaps a deep memory test would be in order. The blue screen error may give you a clue.

If it is set to save crash dumps you could also use the debugger to help you figure out why it is crashing https://www.dell.com/support/kbdoc/e...ini-dump-files

for desktop, does it play audio just watching any youtube? or only on live?

i'd look also on windows updates and uninstall form when you think it stopped output on youtube live.

I'm using Firefox, will check into it, thx, hadn't considered that angle. Chrome plays audio on "Live" youtube, so I guess its a Firefox issue.
