My wife tried to download and install a new video driver for her laptop. Now she can't log in. She use to log in with her fingerprint, now it wants a PIN, but the keyboard is not working. I got it to the point where Windows tried to fix the startup login problem, but it failed. The only option appears to be reinstall Windows. There two options. Delete everything or keep personal files. I assume this will delete all of the apps. Is this correct? Anybody have any ideas other than reinstalling Windows and can this be done from the Cloud as Microsoft suggest?

The reason she downloaded the driver was because I was using MS Team on her laptop to remotely appear for a court hearing. I could see the courtroom just find but my picture was streaked, blurred and unstable
Once I get to the troubleshooting window, the keyboard works. If I recall correctly, at one point I was given the option to boot from a USB device. Is there something that I can download to a USB drive that I could boot from?
I'll try a USB Keyboard and see what happens.
Thanks for your input.

Can you boot into safe mode and log in?There is no week nor day nor hour, when tyranny may not enter upon this country, if the people lose their supreme confidence in themselves -- and lose their roughness and spirit of defiance -- Tyranny may always enter -- there is no charm, no bar against it -- the only bar against it is a large resolute breed of men.

At a minimum you can try to uninstall the driver that caused the issue. Also back up any files just in case. There is no week nor day nor hour, when tyranny may not enter upon this country, if the people lose their supreme confidence in themselves -- and lose their roughness and spirit of defiance -- Tyranny may always enter -- there is no charm, no bar against it -- the only bar against it is a large resolute breed of men.

Here's something to try before going the nuclear route.
If a Windows image becomes unserviceable, you can use the Deployment Imaging and Servicing Management (DISM) tool to update the files and correct the problem.
Read the entire article before proceeding. The procedure uses PowerShell, which is part of Windows, to run the command
You'll need a keyboard and the laptop connected to the internet.
I have used it, and it worked for me. It's not hard to do and may save a lot of hassle.
