    Best screen recorder?

"Best" meaning cheapest, least intrusive, actually works, etc.

I've got some instructional videos on a subscription site I want to record in case that site goes tits-up.

If you have recent MS Office, powerpoint has a nice screen recorder.

I used Bandicam for years to record games and work meetings. Never had an issue when I used it. They have a free version but I bought the life time one. I now use OBS for screen recording and streaming. Its also free. Did many streams and recordings and only once where the encoder crashed causing my recording and stream to die.

OBS Studio is free to use. But if you want to download the video without having to do a screen record. You could download a firefox extention called "Video DownloadHelper" and it will scan the page for the video file and let you download the video.

Well that would be cool. I'd be surprised if their website allowed that.

According to complaints, it's no longer free. Unless you don't mind an obnoxious watermark on every video.

It might be worth paying for, I haven't decided yet.

Windows has a built in recorder. Windows key + g, then hit the record button.
                  ???

ShareX works well, and is open-sourced and free.

ShareX is a free and open source program that lets you capture or record any area of your screen and share it with a single press of a key. It also allows uploading images, text or other types of files to many supported destinations you can choose from.

OBS is all you need. I use it to record just about anything.

Someone told me about something called Movavi. How does that compare?
