I put a SSD hybrid drive in my laptop last year. So far it has been nice to have and boot times are faster.

What did you pay for your drive? If you don't mind me asking.

I paid 190$ for it on newegg and i think i have a 10-20$ rebate also. I'm just amazed at the improvement on boot-up and general run speed on every thing. True to my life western digital had one on sale the next day 200$ for a 240gig one. But I'm to happy to care.

You can pretty much get them for $1 per GB on average if you look around. Slickdeals.net usually has posts about them regularly.

          **edit**

Here's on from newegg that I found through Slickdeals.net

240 GB SS drive for $199.99 after rebate

I replaced the 7200RPM Seagate in my notebook with a 256GB Crucial M4 SSD and the improvement was HUGE! I've also got a 120GB Sandisk Extreme SSD (replacing a Raptor) in my desktop as the boot drive and it's great but I still have spinners in RAID5 for my data.

I had a Corsair X256 in my MacBook Pro for around 6 months, it was fast till it just stop working. Good thing I had backed up a week earlier. So be for warned...back up your hard drives. Corsair did send a replacement drive for free.

I bought an 80 gig Corsair last year for $150, now you can get 120 gig and up for that price, after rebates. Best upgrade I've made ever, my wei went up from 5.7 to 7.9 on hardrive and I was running raid before.

Wait till you start playing with the PCI-E bases solid state drives....

I had a chance to have an ioDrive drive in my workstation for a while for testing. Mind blowing if you actually run applications that can take advantage of it like VMWare Workstation or Video Production...

Best upgrade I can think of for any of my computers.

                            Just in case:
I turned off defrag, turned off hibernation, and allocated my virtual memory onto the 2nd HDD - to avoid any unnecessary writes to the SSD.

If you're running Windows 7 you just need to run WEI and make sure the drive scores over a 5.9. Windows handles the rest. There is no danger in keeping the swap file on the system drive, in fact it is impossible to disable.
