network solutions cname change for google sites

Anyone familiar with cname changes on network solutions using Google sites?

I made the change but it still shows the under construction page.

Maybe I'm doing it wrong?

In NS admin I put WWW for the alias and ghs.google.com in the other host name.

Then in my Google site I put my URL.

Where am I going wrong?

Run a dns resolution test for your www.<domainname> using the network solutions DNS server as the lookup server.

Does it point to ghs.google.com?

Does it point to ghs.google.com or another IP? If it's pointing to another, then the DNS chances haven't propagated yet. Wait a few hours.

Seems to come up with 3:

Have you checked multiple DNS sources? What's your DNS ttl?

I did. My TTL is 7200.

I tried my URL again and it started working!

I guess it really does take 48 hours to make the change.

Sometimes.

DNS can be a funny beast when you don't control the nameservers directly.

DNS changes can take a while to propagate.

If you did nslookup from your comp and it still took a while longer to load the page even though it new about the cname then you just needed to do a hard refresh on the browser or close the browser and flushdns. Hard refresh is ctrl+F5 in most browsers.
