how do i get data off 3.5 floppy?

    Hey guys
my parents have an old computer which only has a floppy drive and they have important financial data that they would like to transfer to a new computer. Ive search around but so far I can only find things about sending the floppys to outside companies to transfer the data. Is there any solution I can do at home? appreciate the help.

Go buy a external floppy drive. Fry's has them for about 20 bucks with USB connection

I have stripped off like 30 Teac, epson, and NEC floppy drives off of machines destined for e-waste here at work, and put them in machines I use... even for home.

You never know when you need to update a bios and Windows or even Linux isn't installed yet...

I remember inserting 5.25s into my girlfriend's old Kaypro "portable" computer (it was the size of a small suitcase) and doing my collidge papers on that thing...

Eventually I got a Mac SE and was amazed at the giant technological leap -- a 3.5" drive! Woah!

Is the data stored on floppies or is it stored on an internal drive? Does the PC have USB?

I collect Military Arms and enjoy shooting in local matches. I also collect older Lever Actions, especially those chambered in odd/old cartridges. If you have a nice old Winchester or Marlin in 25-20, 32-40, 38-55, 40-60, 45-70, etc etc, please PM me and we can work out a deal.

I have a bunch of old source code and executable code in my store roomS on various media going back to the mid 80's, including on CHIPS.

I had an Adam that used audio cassettes for data storage.
