Comcast internet is the goods AFAIK. Get a motorola surfboard modem, don't rent a device from Comcast.

Your linksys router may be able to run tomato, might be wishful thinking but mine seems to have been more stable over the last three years since I switched http://www.polarcloud.com/tomato

Thanks for posting equipment recommendations all, good to know what is current. I've been thinking about getting a new router too. Any switch recommendations? I just hear, buy whatever is cheap for switches and plan on changing it out when it dies. same for UPS, any recomendations?
If it was a snake, it would have bit me.

It could be that your router is only handing out so many IP addresses or it could be too many devices are connected to the WIFI.

Check the DHCP settings on the LAN side of the router. Make sure it can hand out more than 10 IP addresses. Also Set the channel to auto that usually helps if it is a signal problem (which it does not sound like that to me).

I went through a similar problem and it turns out that I had too many WIFI devices connected at the same time causing connection drops to random devices.

        Hope this helps.
^^^^ this. Try disconnecting the phones. Might be overloading the router, a little rob peter to pay Paul.
