    Razr battery life

I'm considering getting the Droid Razr in a few weeks when I'm eligible. Seen a few posts here ending with "sent from my razr" and thought I'd ask you owners, are you satisfied with the battery life?

I won't be watching any movies on mine, maybe just some trailers, along with light to moderate surfing, email. Not even a gamer, those got old for me really quickly! Although, I did sink a chunk of my life on that robo tower defense game when it first came out.

I'd be happy if I can last a day with that. Not worth 2 more benjamins for the Maxx battery, IMO.

I usually have to charge mine once or twice a day.

All LTE handsets have battery life issues due to the fact that the LTE chipset is a power hungry beast. Apps like Juice Defender help a lot with this since they will disable LTE when your screen is off. It will still enable the LTE to check for email and the such every 15 minutes or so in the background. The ultimate version even allows you to customize this.

The smart action application does a great job of extending battery life. Still, I have an external battery for days I'm out all day.

I won't be doing Motorola again, after the last, and recent Bootloader Lockdown Fiascos...

Thx guys. If you're out all day, would switching to 3G-only last the entire day? I have a car charger with mini/micro USB so that should help. They can be found for ~$5-$10 on Amazon or similar website.

I used to play with roms but it was an incredible timesink. Which features were you looking for from a custom rom? Guess you wanted ICS before the official update?

I assume you were asking ME about ROMs...

Well you have to run a custom kernel with IPTABLES included in a custom kernel to tether with Open Source (freeware). I don't always WiFi tether, but when I do, I like it to work.

I recently left Verison, as they were raping me in fees, Moto locking down bootloaders, and VZW capping new contracts. The T-Mobile Sidekick is build on top of TouchWiz from Samsung. Anything with TouchWiz is a complete nightmare, and just memory-leaks constantly. Samsung's Vanilla (pure-google) Android phones have about 0 problems, but if you check T-Mobile's Forum for the SK4g, you will see the problems TouchWiz's memory-leaks cause... 100's of PAGES OF THEM. Seeking more Vanilla, but alas we must wait for GB for a more standardized Android cook. The SK4G Android cook by Samsung/T-Mobile does not even do landscape on-screen keyboard currently. Soooo ANYTHING is better than stock as far as ROMs go for this one.

with 4g off and 3g on instead, they are fine. or you can get an app like jday recommended to manage it for you.

unless you are downloading attachments though, you probably wouldn't see a large increase in speed between 3g and 4g for email.

Thanks 86d, wifi tethering is definitely nice to have. Did you try this site?

How's the signal on TMo? I'll stick with Verizon for the coverage. They've been the "least evil" as far as customer service among the main 4 providers for me. Who knew putting my service in vacation mode (still get charged a portion of the bill) would extend the contract end date...

i love my Droid RAZR but that thing does love its battery juice. sometimes i end up having to start charging it before i even leave for work, and then finish the charging when i get home. if your heart is set on that device, pay a couple of bucks extra and spring for the RAZR Maxx instead. it's a tiny bit thicker, but only because it houses a larger battery. it's said to last much longer than the Gen 1 RAZRs.

This is for all 4g phones, when 4g is on the 3g is also on for the phone. You're sending to signals are the same time. 4g in my area sucks and drops all the time so I have it on has 3g, no issues and battery last a bit longer.

The OEM battery and back plate will release soon and everyone can upgrade their phone to og razr to razr maxx. there is no gen 1 or gen 2 razr, its all fud.

Yea I know about the Maxx but the here's the price difference on Amazon:
                              $35 Razr
                              $200 Razr Maxx
with new contracts. So it's much cheaper to get the Razr and a battery like the ones linked here.
VZW doesn't allow me to keep my number with the new contract (they want me to pay the much higher $200 "upgrade" price for the Razr / $230 for the Maxx), but I'll just use google voice. My number is not worth almost $200 heh.
