    dang windows update

I held off for so long from getting I.E. 9 (say what you will, but I really liked i.e. 8).

Somehow the update snuck through and now I am stuck with i.e. 9 and not happy.

Why are you using IE at all? Go Firefox.

If you don't like auto updates, turn them off. they are annoying.

Easy. Try to go back to a restore point prior to the update and see if that works.

The last like 3 versions of FF were crap, and lock up all the time, just in youtube, and Facebook.

I personally tried Chrome due to the FF issues, and made me less efficient then even FF with the freeze-ups (as I like to use ALT, and have a file menu, call me old-school).

(I have been using FF since EARLY Beta, and just the last 3 full versions sucked.)

          There's always Slackware Linux!

            1. Click the Start button , type Programs and Features in the search box, and then click View installed updates in the left pane.

            2. Under Uninstall an update, scroll down to the Microsoft Windows section.

            3. Right-click Windows Internet Explorer 9, click Uninstall, and then, when prompted, click Yes.

            4.Click one of the following:

Restart now (to finish the process of uninstalling Internet Explorer 9 and restore the previous version of Internet Explorer).

            Restart later

            5. Profit.

I never use IE, (since Firefox 1 came) and thought that was one of them "Perma-updates" Micro$haft likes to "impose".

              Buenos-Nachos techshot!

But now Erik_26 can get some work done without IE blocking legit d/loads that were intentional...

                  All the hate for IE?

Yes, from about version 6 and back was garbage. Back in the day I would use netscape navigator. Then I was on the firefox band wagon for a while.

I.E. 7 was ok. Then when i.e. 8 came out it really grew on me. I actually really like i.e. 8.

Then again, I pretty much surf calguns, sports sites, news, stocks... etc. I am not downloading pirated software or movies.

It's not so much that the later versions of IE are "garbage". I'm not even going to say there is much "wrong" with IE these days, it definitely has improved a lot (albeit way behind the curve). It's just that there are superior options available.

IE is only used as widely as it is because it comes with Windows. If you had to go out and download/install it like you do with Chrome or Firefox, practically nobody would ever had used it and it would have fallen off the market completely, maybe even before IE6 ever had a chance to pollute the universe.

Though, I suppose you could argue that the crappiness of IE is what created a need for alternatives in the browser market.
