Advice: Macbook as Win 7, trying to get back to OSX

Ok so I got a free Macbook and it's loaded with Win 7. It's not through boot camp, it looks like a straight Win 7 install (I accessed the boot options when it starts up and there's only 1 drive available which is the Win 7). I have the OSX Lion .dmg file on my Windows desktop. How do I make a bootable USB drive with Lion on it?

I have a 150gb USB flash drive already formatted to NSF+.. I think.

Not sure on the bootable flash drive, but you could always burn a DVD real quick...

you will need to install 10.6 on it first, then upgrade to Lion.

If the Lion dmg is the full install then making a DVD and booting to it is all that is required to install 10.7. You do not need to install 10.6 first. Before you do that have you tried to restart the system holding down "x" on the keyboard?

If a bootable version of OSX is on the drive this will force a startup in OSX. Alternatively holding down the option key on a restart will bring up all selectable startup options on screen. This will be a benefit if you have an external drive with a bootable volume install since you seemed to have already tried that.

          10.7 doesn't come as a full install.

          Check out the install guide.

Just install Slackware Linux, and be done with it...

I think you have to install 10.6.8 (Snow Leopard) first before going to Lion.

I think this weekend I will make the switch to Lion as well with a new 500GB HDD.

EDIT: And here is proof. You only need 10.6 to purchase and download 10.7 from the App Store. In fact you can purchase 10.7 on physical media at the store if you wish, it comes on a bootable USB thumb drive.
