Sounds like DHS paid people to sit on their arse and get online. I also didn't see anything about twitter or FB specifically. However, lets think about this logically. An "event" might mean "decapitation" of someone, for example. Maybe I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt but it sounds like they want to stay ahead of this. How often has the media had more info than LEA's?

About 10 years ago I read a MIT research paper that claimed soon they would be able to digitize and archive a persons life, including all financial records, medical records, phone calls, any of the car plate readers, video surveillance. Imagine in a few years if you don't pay a few parking tickets and the special prosecutor will have access to your digitized life.

At the moment, the government ties some debts to required licensing. If you are a lawyer or engineering and you owe child support (I think there are other debts/judgement that apply) you can't renew your license to practice. Add in what the IRS can do with bank accounts, and that slippery slope is starting to come into focus.
