Best Vendor for a new PC?

    So I've browsed around;

    NewEgg
    IBuyPower
    Dell
    Bestbuy

I've found that the system I want is gonna run me about $1000

    I'm looking at an:

    Core i5-2500K @ 3.0Ghz or Phenom II X4 @ 3 or 4ghz
    8gigs of Ram Minimum (upgradable)
    Radeon HD 6850 1gig

I was wondering if any of you knew what or where might have better prices, discounts, coupons or other sales? My old system just can't run StarWars Old Republic as good as I want, so I wanted to treat myself to something with a little more kick. Any recommendations would be great.

    Thanks!

I can vouch for iBuyPower having 2 of their builds. OTOH it's all in the components you choose. I am happy with their prices.

Why don't you just upgrade the components of your old computer?

Depending on where you're located, try Micro Center.

BTW, when did the bar get set so low?

          mwave.com and also amazon.com

(for component shopping, not built systems)

Because upgrading a computer from 2005 with a Pent D and 2gig of ram with XP-32bit would cost too much. I tried at first to increase my ram, but found that without a 64bit version of XP or a new version of Windows 7 my comp is maxed by 2gig. I'd ordered a bunch from newegg and ate it all after several hours of troubleshooting why system wasn't finding the extra ram, but everything else noted the extra ram.

At this point I'm not techie enough for building my own system and upgrading my 7 year old dinosaur isn't an option...

You might check delloutlet.com. The inventory is always changing so you might have to keep an eye on it for a while but there are some good deals especially on the scratch/dent systems. Mine didn't have a scratch or dent on it and they come with the same 1 year warranty as a new system.

I would recommend building your own PC.

You can do it much much cheaper and have a much more beefy system.

If you would like me to create a build list for you to give you an idea, let me know.

I buy all of my computer parts from Amazon.com. It's not strictly a computer outlet, but I use my existing account for free 2 day shipping, and I saved 400$ on a processor on my last build, so the prices are decent.

Building a computer is quite simple. The hardest part for someone new to building is being able to take the time to read the manuals. If you are patient, you should have no problem. Alternatively, you might see what prices are like in your area for custom built PCs (you buy the parts, and they assemble it). It could save you a bit of money, and you won't have to compromise on any of the parts.

                      +1 for building it.
If I bought mine it would have cost probably twice what it did to build it
And what are you using it for? Gamer?

                        Cyberpower

Building your computer can be cheaper but not always.

I will never shop at TD ever again, no matter how low their prices are.
Check out their reseller rating, I would say 20%-40% chance it will not be a good order. YMMV

Other than that, all good suggestions above.
I will add Fry's (local)...shop from their their weekly ad's, there are some great deals at times.

I can vouch for Fry's. Just bewware of the stuff with the stickers like reduced price or open box, avoid those like a plague.,

Also if you shop at newegg, they're located in so. cal so it wouldnt take too long for you to receive your parts. As for Bestbuy, that stuff is overpriced. Everything there is overpriced.
