    Is this possible?

Ok folks, I know there are a bunch of really tech savvy people here, so I thought I would ask here before going to the maxpc forum I used to hang out on before I caught the CalGuns bug.

I just bought a digital picture frame for my folks for Xmas. I have a 5 Gig file(Mpg) that that my Mom's brother put together from a bunch of old pictures and video. (Think 40s and 50s video cameras)

I would like to run that mpg on the digital picture frame, but I don't know how.

If I load the Mpg on a 8Gig SD Card, is there an executable file I can include that will start the movie whenever the frame is turned on?

Is there another way that I can do this? Is this even possible without some sort of video card? I am kinda handy with a computer but this is out of my league. Any help is appreciated.

    John
And in all fairness, just because JMB did it doesn't mean anything. He'd have won WWII with a soup can, a fork, and a couple rocks. Seriously, even McGuyver and Steven Hawking get together every now and then and are like "How the **** did he do that?..."

Completely depends on the hardware and software of the picture frame. If the frame has the hardware capability to play any video, let alone the video in question, and it's running some sort of hack-able OS, say a lightweight linux kernel of some sort... yes, it may be technically possible.

If it's running some sort of imbedded firmware that only does jpg slideshows (likely) or the hardware is super low-spec (also likely, it's just a photo frame), or both, it's probably not going to work.

    tl;dr

I doubt it's worth the time even trying.

yeah, that's pretty much what I thought too. It was at least worth a try, anyway.

        Thanks
