    PLEASE HELP!!! (HDD Question)

I just bought this HDD from newegg http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16822148591
I am now in the process of installing XP PRO on it, when I installed the drive and booted from the install disc it did not give me an option on which part of the drive it wants me to format, it saw it as 1 drive but the drive is supposed to have 4gb of solid state and the rest platters.....so is it going to give me the option later? or is this a bad drive and should have shown as 2 drives from the start?

It looks to me like it's only supposed to be 1 drive. It's a hybrid - it looks like the SSD portion is really more in the way of a super-sized cache.

As far as your OS is concerned, it's a single drive. The SSD portion is essentially just one big block-level cache, and it's controlled by the drive's controller, not by the OS.

You won't see the 4GB. It is essentially memory that you won't see. It is controlled by the HD to improve access times.
