Never seen this kind of behavior from an email in my inbox

I received an advertising email on Monday regarding the recycling of old cell phones.

I have not opened it and do not plan to, will delete in the near future.

This email stays at the top of my inbox continuously. I have received many emails since, and this email just stays at the top.
I have never seen this happen before with any email, ever.

    What is up with this?

Check the date of the email. Sometimes it will have a date of 1/1/2999 or something and when you have it arranged by date it stays up there.

Hotmail? Hotmail just introduced a "feature" that if the e-mail is "flagged" (with the little flag turned on, duh) it stays at the top of your inbox until you address it, either unflag it, delete it, etc etc.

BINGO! They have the date of the mailing at 12/13/2021, sneaky little bastards!
Just one more reason to delete it without opening it.
(I should have noticed that myself)
