    Deleting the undeletable?

So I am trying to trash some older Word docs and keep getting the message that I can't delete it because its an open file (or not the original file) and I should close it first and try again. The thing is, I didn't have the file open in the first place, I didn't have ANY Word docs open. So, how can I delete it?

right click on the bottom task bar and go to task manager, then click on processes and find any word doc thats open and click on it and click end, then try and delete it after that

Is there a 'lsof' equivalent command for Windows OSes?

usually, that's when i go to a DOS window. click start -> type in command.com in RUN -> go to the location of the file and delete type del [insert filename here]. make sure you get the file name right.

i've had this issue before a few times. DOS window usually works for me.

            This.

If it still won't let you, boot into safe mode with command prompt and try it that way.
