    Browser Troubleshooting--Firefox

I am running a Dell Inspiron laptop with Windows 7 and Firefox. In general, it runs find but has developed an annoying habit.

About every 20 minutes or so, it will become unresponsive and report that Firefox is not responding. It displays a little "blue spinning ring" to show it is busy. After roughly a minute it returns and I can continue my work on the browser.

I re-installed the browser hoping that would get rid of it but that did not work. Anyway, I supect there must be some sort of timeout thing happening but can't quite figure out how to effectively troubleshoot it.

Any ideas or suggestions are welcome. Thanks.

Firefox 7.0 is a memory hog. On a bad day with 4 or five tabs open, I've seen it use almost 750MB of memory.
The bullets with my name on it I'm not worried about, it's the "To whom it may concern" ones I'm worried about.

I have noticed that. I keep getting little pop up messages that say Firefox is using large amounts of memory (usually 400 - 500 MB) and it might improve responsiveness if I restart the application. I don't think the two are related but who knows.

open task manager and close all the processes one by one until you find the one causing your problem. firefox by itself is probably not the cause.

I guess I will give that a try next. I completely uninstalled it and then reinstalled it. I will see what happens.

You could try using Chrome instead

I like Chrome but it doesn't have a plug in for LastPass like Explorer and Firefox have.
