i have had pretty equal success with both.

lately i have been on an ATI kick, had a 5850 before and a 6990 now - i have been really happy.

at the $500 price point i wouldnt say either one is drastically better then the other. One thing to keep in mind is nVidia has the built in phys-x chip which can be nice.

I went with a factory overclocked GTX580... the MSI Lightning. People have over clocked the crap outa this thing but I'm running stock for BF3.

Whenever I use an ATI/AMD graphics card, I always have to screw around with drivers for different games. I don't seem to have that issue with Nvidia cards. Once I get it right on an Nvidia, it stays right.

I can get cards from both manufacturers to work. Performance is a wash.

Yea definitely worth the wait are high end 7000 series cards. 7970 will have 2050 cores vs 6970's 1530 cores. Memory should also be 1 ghz faster.

Flip a coin... Do you like Coke or Pepsi? Ford or Chevy? Mossberg or Remington? Both can be/are quality cards.
