    Need a new TV

Alright, so I may be in the market for a new TV very shortly. I currently have a 46" Samsung from a couple years ago that has been very good. I will be giving this to my brother for his new place. Which leaves me in the market for a new TV.

My short list of potentials are currently:

    Panasonic VIERA TC-P55VT30
    Sony BRAVIA XBR55HX929
    Samsung UN55D8000

    Any opinions?

I have a three year old Samsung 40" and I had to have the board replaced after two years. Samsung did a one time out of warranty service so that was nice that they took care of it.

I've done a LOT of research on new TV's over the last couple months and I'm going to go with the 65" VT30. It seems like the best system for watching movies the way they were intended and after viewing in person, I'd say it is by far the best out there. 3D stuff aside, the 24p viewing mode is fantastic and that mixed with it being a plasma TV makes movies more like a theater experience. You don't get the "Mexican soap opera" effect that makes everything look like it's shot with a digital camera.

        Good stuff - highly recommend!

Our Sony 52" rear projection finally gave up. Picked up a 55" Sony Bravia, only have had it for two days but very pleased so far.

We don't have an HD box, is it worth getting one? (on Cox).

Yes, it is. Very worth it. You are missing so much. I have one on Time Warner and it is night and day.

Thanks for the input everyone. I am still very undecided.

Panasonic plasma. Can't beat the picture quality. LCD is really good but just isn't there yet.

I have a 35" TV that's been a table for the last 5 years. $60 if you want it, no remote.

I love Panasonics. I currently have two Viera plasmas. Very nice colors and look great once calibrated with Avia (for movies).

I would go with a Samsung again, LG is also good!

If you can afford it go LED.

We have a Sony but its not a bravia version and we love it.

However its a few years old and technology changes so fast.

From my understanding, LED is just LCD with LED source lighting rather than edge cathodes... I don't think the gamut is as wide as plasma
