Need some help, I'm looking for a multi format media card reader that will also read the old PCMCIA memory cards. Would the micro drive slot be the same for the PCMCIA slot????

do you have a picture. i don't remember the term micro drive. before sd cards, there was there were these

i also had these really thin wafer like memory cards about the size of sd, but just super thin. i think they were called smart media cards? just like the pic above.
i don't recall the pcmcia whether type i or type ii was ever called microdrive. maybe you're referring to the new cards for cell phones - micro sd? -
No I mean PCMCIA Card. Like back in the 90's when your laptop didn't have an ethernet connection built in so you had to use the PCMCIA slot. Similar to this card.

A Micro Drive would look like this....

Our voicemail system back's up it's configuration to a PCMCIA card and what I've been doing is copying the files onto the server every week for backup's. The only way I've been copying it is using a laptop that still has the PCMCIA slot. When we go to new laptops next year they are not going to have that slot anymore so I'm looking to see if there's a USB card reader out there that can still read PCMCIA cards. OR If there's an adapter out there that will allow me to connect it via USB preferably.Ray

A MicroDrive is a form of Compact Flash, they us the same reader port. There are PCI cards that you put a CardBuss/ PCMCIA card in. It could be installed in a empty PCI slot on a desktop. You'd need access to the rear of the desktop computer to use it.No I mean PCMCIA Card. You could get a PCMCIA to Compact Flash card adapter and see if your system will work with it instead of a PCMCIA memory card. then you remove the CF card for the adapter and stick in a regular card reader. Get a metal adapter as the plastic ones flex and sometimes you have to stick something thin and flat along side them to eject them.

Here's a bunch of PCMCIA card readers. Front mount, rear mount, and USB.
