For what you need, buy a pc for $500, than spend the $700 on a gun. Am I seriously the first one to mention this!? Dissappointed in my fellow calgunners...
      Bingo.

You can buy the sandy bridge system in my sig line for less than $500 and spend the rest on beer.

Thanks to all for the input. Followed the general consensus and only spent $800.00 on a really nice set up (i7 processor, 1tb hard drive & 8gb memory) along with a nice 27'' LED HD monitor. Saved the rest to put towards ammo.

        Thanks calguns.

I was reading that Seagate has a hidden charge when you send in their hard disk for warranty ~$26 plus tax, can anyone verify? They have long warranties but if that costs money then its a little extreme.

I am returning a seagate 2T drive under warranty. There are no hidden fees. There is an option where they will send you a replacement drive with a prepaid UPS label for $10. They send the drive out 2nd day air. You then place the bad drive in the box, slap the label on and call USP to pick it up.

I can't beat that here in San Jose. If I didn't choose the cheaper Seagate solution, I would have to wait a week and a half to get my new drive.
It would cost me $7 ground plus the cost of a box and gas to send the drive to them. The retail box the drive came in is not a shipping box.

I just picked up an iMac 27 i7 with Thunderbolt....really loving it. With $1200, you can get an i5 21.5 if you look around. Check Apple store refurb section. BTW, refurb from Apple are as good as new...with one year warranty...and the option to buy 2 more yrs.
