Looking for form making software (printable forms)

It looks like our form making software is no longer supported and it will not run on Windows 7, so I need to find new software and create new forms (using drop-down boxes and check boxes).
Forms are Shop Travelers and Certificates of Conformance, that sort of thing, using in aerospace manufacturing.
Forms will not be used on a website.

    What a PITA......

    Any recommendations?

    Thanks in advance!

    PS:
The old software I was using was Form Designer Pro from Softkey Multimedia

Acrobat is the only form software I've used. It's a little odd at first but pretty easy once you get the hang of it.

      +1 on Acrobat.

You can also make forms on Word 2007 and beyond. You have to go into publisher mode and it takes a while if you're starting from scratch, but it's a breeze to add drop boxes, check boxes, calendar selections and text boxes if you already have a template and ran it through OCR.

        there are 2 options.

        1. you can run a Virtual PC and run windows XP in it to run your software. this is the hard and long way...

        2. you can try to run the software using this mode:

Find help and how-to articles for Windows operating systems. Get support for Windows and learn about installation, updates, privacy, security and more.

Thanks, I tried all the compatibility stuff, old program written for Windows 95 and will not run in Windows 7 without new 64 bit upgrade from software manufacturer, but they are no longer supporting it.

I've done some pretty complex forms for car dealers. First built the files in InDesign, then created the forms in Acrobat Pro. Worked very well but there were few shortcuts along the way.

Make sure you embed fonts 100% to avoid issues on the client's machine trying to do a font substitution. Sometimes needed to "print as image" (advanced menu) for the fonts to play nice.
